    Hi there.
Can invig/proanimator create smooth (non banded) gradients.

I have been flying objects in up close, and you can see the gradients…

Is it an 8, 16 or float point renderer

    Cheers

    Hi Lensflare,

I haven’t run into the banding issue with either app, but I suppose it’s possible with certain gradients, if the rendering engine is 8 bit. Perhaps Matt will jump in with the tech spec for you.

The cartoon color rendering option does create banding – a posterization effect – on purpose.

    Hi Lensflare.

The current Invigorator/ProAnimator renderer outputs in 8-bit (even though everything internal is done in floating point).
You may see banding in certain circumstances (when the color variation across a large portion of the screen is minimal),
but most users won’t see any.

Now that After Effects supports floating bit output, we’re looking into higher-bit output.

Stay tuned. And let us know if you have any other questions.
And, as always, feel free to download a demo of the product to see if it does what you want.

Thanks for that. Float would be great.

    Cheers
