  Editing an mp4 file using Isotope RX4

  OK, this may be dumb, but to be safe I better ask.

  I’m going to fix some audio in an mp4 audio/video file. RX4 doesn’t handle video, so if I edit the audio and save it back out will the video still be attached and in sync?

  Hello Larry and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

  I think if you export your audio from the video, import it into the stand alone version of RX4, do what you want to do and then replace the original audio with the audio you processed in RX4, that should work. Try it off-line with something non-perishable first. I’m not aware that RX4 will let you edit audio. I think it just processes it.

  No the audio will not be embedded / attached to the video anymore.

  Best workflow.
  1)Take video file with embedded audio into a video NLE such as AVID
  2) export the audio track as wav or aiff
  3) import into rx and work on it
  4) render it back out with changes completed
  5) import to avid and re lay on timeline
  6) export timelineas a video again.

  NB If youre in pro tools you can re export the video track with a new audio track natively within pro tools

  Id add that using an mp4 isnt too hot an idea unless its all you have. Mp4s are really just a delivery file cos theyre small and transferable.
  Best go back to an uncompressed file if poss / or a pro res original, do the work and then re create a new mp4 from that amended export.
