  Sennheiser G3 ENG Wirelss Lav popping and cracking noise

  I have been working on it for a few days and still have the same problem. I used the easy freq system to scan then picked the 1.1 freq and tried others and still get the same issue.

  EW100 G3 wireless eng kit
  ME 2 lav

  Here is the problem

  The system is brand new from B&H so I am not sure what the problem could be.

  Hi Kurt and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

  It sounds like rf interference.

  I’m not quite sure what you mean by the 1.1 frequency.

  What city are you in and is your G3 a model A, B or C.

  What frequencies do you see on the transmitter and/or receiver.

  Hello Ty!

  It is the A model. I am in Ormond Beach, FL.

  By 1.1 I was referring to bank 1 freq 1. I just did the scan again and right after pressed set twice for it to select the best frequency and still had the issue.

  I am recording in to a Tascam DR-70D.

  I’ll have to go back in look but it is around 526.000 now.

  Is the mic plugged into the Tx unit and the locking ring done up? I have had a similar sound if the mic connector isn’t in correctly. Or even a broken cable near the 3.5mm plug (but you can normally see a kink in the cable if this occurs)

  Rather than do an auto scan just do a manual scan, turn off the Tx unit and go through some frequencies on the Rx unit if there is any sign of an RF signal stay well away from this area of the RF spectrum.

  The thing that was confusing me was that the AF meter on the transmitter was still showing all of the noise so that led me to believe that the microphone is the source. The only mic I have here that that type of input is a video mic pro so I plugged that in and it worked fine with zero cracks and pops. Plugged the ME2 in and all of pops came back. I talked to BH and they are sending me a replacement mic.
