Hi I have had a Tascam DR-680 for a few month and love it but the battery burn is unacceptable.

I recently saw a video on YouTube about powering from a Hawk-Woods DV-90R buit when I ordered one I think they have changed the barrel or it is different in the UK.

Here is a pic of both barrels (see below) – the yellow one is the mains Tascam adaptor.

My question is – how can I power the DR-680 using a Lithium/ Hirose/ adaptor / setup or any other way!

I’m in the UK – wonderful reccorder but I am not going to spend a fortune on AA’s outside of the studio.

Any help would be really useful.

    Cheer,

    Leon

Hello Leon and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

I don’t know the answer. Let me see if any TASCAM folks do.

    How about this?

BDS wise, the BDSCL33 output cable fits the 680 as per: https://www.remoteaudio.com/…/rem_bdsv4_configchart_v...

There is also the option of using an external laptop/cell phone charger with 12v DC out such as this:

    https://www.amazon.com/Anker…/dp/B00B45EOYS/ref=sr_1_2...

I’ve used a lower capacity anker battery (astro pro: 10,000 mah) and it powered the 680 for about 8 hours on-time.

No but thankyou because seeing all those adaptors made me remember I had an old Power Gorilla in the loft! And with a couple of connections secured by gaffer tape – it works! Superb 🙂
