  • Create anti-aliasing / inverted smart blur?

I’d like to try to soften the high-contrast edges in a 3D rendered sequence that doesn’t have enough anti-aliasing. What’s the best way to address this? It seems like I’m trying to do the opposite of what the smart blur or does– or blur the hi-contrast edges, but leave anything below a certain threshold alone. Maybe like an unsharp mask with negative values?
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Greg

Try duplicating your footage twice so you have three layers.
On the top layer apply the Find Edges effect and use it as a luma track matte for the middle layer which is blurred. These two would be over an unaffected bottom layer.

    How’s that?

    Thanks. That worked.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to fix the flickering so I’m going to try to re-render that element in C4D and overlay it.
