    Hello,

What file format/settings do you recommend to playback high res video from protools?
Using an avid mojo for output, tried apple pro res but it jitters. Using separate drives for session and, video files, system is very new with 8 GB RAM

Our systems here are using the qualified Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme PCI card for HD video playback. Apple ProRes video is supported, and works perfectly. Don’t know if Mojo DX (I assume DX since you’re talking about HD video) is even supported for Pro Tools video playback.

Read this doc for full information on supported video cards and formats:

    Give h264 a go.

Any reason why youre set on hd playback. Seems youre placing un necessary stress on an audio system by making it do hd?

Not sure where Eric’s working, but I can tell you clients don’t like working for a month on a beautiful HD spot and then show up to the audio mix and see crappy compressed SD video on the monitors. That’s just one reason…

Lots of post audio houses ask for a 720p photo-JPEG at around 50-75% quality. I’ve made one for my own use going through a Blackmagic Intensity Pro on my Pro Tools LE system, and it works fine. At lower qualities you’ll notice some resolution/PQ issues obviously compared to a full-quality ProRes…but for sound work it’s fine and the size stays pretty low and plays fine without stutter or skips/issues.
