Hi all, I am wondering if there is a technique or expression that will take the properties of a camera x,y,z
and convert them into path data. This way I will have a path in exactly the same length, direction and orientation as the camera??

I am very familiar with the opposite of taking a path shape to position keyframes.

    Thanks in advance

This works only in two dimensions. There is no way in AE to establish 3d path.
If you take a 2d layer’s position copy all it’s keyframes and paste it to the mask’s path or shape layer’s shape – you got the path, but if you do it with a 3d layer – it will take only x and y, and simply ignore the z value.

A way round this would be to copy the camera’s x & y position onto a mask, then use an expression for your object to follow only the camera’s z position…

if you need me to I can knock the expression up for you
