    Hey guys,

I did post before on boom mics and portable digital recorders and I decided on a better shotgun mic ( So I have read ) which is:

    https://www.amazon.com/Azden-High-performance-SMX-10-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B000GE403I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1266372258&sr=1-2

I’m on a very fixed budget for a small Indie film that I am doing soon and I need better sound then the in-built mic on my Sony HD-SR10. Because my camera does not have an input for any external accessories such as the boom mic above, I need to record the audio separately and then edit it in post. But like I said I am on a tight budget and don’t have the time and money to afford a $100-$400 digital recorder. I have read that you can plug your boom mic into your laptop and use a program to record the audio instead.

What I am asking is if anyone has ever tried that before and if so how did it work for you? And what specific program would record that? Audacity etc?

    Any information would be helpful.

    -Dave.
