  • help please!!! US122L, mac 10.5.2 and Rode NT3 mic

    Hi

I have a macbook pro laptop and just brought the US 122L. I installed the latest drivers.

Garageband sees the input from US 122L but no sound.

I have a Rode Mic NT3 plugged in through phantom power and occassionally the light flickers to indicate some XLR feed. No powering of mic light. It is switched to phantom power.

    Three urgent questions:

1)Does the US 122L have issues with phantom power at times?

    2) Why is the input light occassionally flickering on XLR signal?

    3) why no sound input from Rode mic NT3 into US122L….the light is on for US122L USB power. Do I need to put a battery in the mic if it’s phantom???

I can’t believe it has become so complicated with a USB audio devise, rode mic and a mac. It does seem so easy but it isn’t.

I am about to tear my hair out.

Can someone please send me sound advise excuse the pun.

    Ham

Hello Hamilton and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum,

    [Hamilton Robinson] “Three urgent questions:

1)Does the US 122L have issues with phantom power at times?

    >>I don’t know.

    2) Why is the input light occassionally flickering on XLR signal?

    >>are you feeding the mic to a line level input?

    3) why no sound input from Rode mic NT3 into US122L….the light is on for US122L USB power. Do I need to put a battery in the mic if it’s phantom???

    >>Actually, some mics do require a battery be in place even if they are getting Phantom Power.

You are using an XLR to XLR mic cable, right?
