Hello,
Im going to shoot interviews on location next month. Im going to buy a Lavaliere.Id like to know if you professionals
1 Agree on certain lavalieres being good or great
2 Know of a website that reviews the qualities of the ones you can buy on amazon or ebayThanks!

Im just looking for a lavaliere that you audio professionals like.
The purpose, again, is to record interviews on location, so that
I have the camcorder mike and the lavaliere on some external audio recorder.Itd be great if there was something not super expensive…

Oh, and its probably gonna contradict the “please not super expensive”
factor, but Im thinking its much better to interview people with a
WIRELESS lavaliere… Any good WIRELESS lavaliere out there? -
Sennheiser Evolution G2 100 series.
$599.95 at B&H. It includes 1 receiver, Lav with wireless transmitter and a plug on transmitter for a hand held mic.
On the other hand if you want to move more “upscale”
Lectrosonic 100 series
about $1000-$1200 at B&H
Includes receiver, Lav and transmitter (no plug on for hand held like above). -
So is that more or less the price I should expect to pay for good quality audio, or is there cheaper stuff that still sounds fine?

I think Sony has the UWP-C1 for about $499 less than the Sennheiser lav kit but only lav and no hand held transmitter or mic. Anything less then than and you may be buying a problem rather than a solution – high noise levels, interference issues etc. Azden 100LT is $339. I’d scrape together the extra $260 and get the Sennheiser since it’s worth it to me to have the hand held plugin which I can use with my $100 Sure mic.

At LAST!
I was beginning to think that I was the last person on the planet who thought a CABLE was still the lowest-noise, lowest-cost, most-reliable way to connect a mic.
You can save HUNDREDS of dollars by not buying (and fighting with) wireless gear… and get a MUCH better-sounding mic with the savings.

And spend a huge amount of money in legal fees etc. when people trip over that cable. I won’t use a cable when I’m shooting for a reporter in the street. I won’t use a cable when I interviewing someone in a crowded nightclub. I won’t run a cable to the groom when shooting a wedding. I wont use a cable when the subject being interviewed is walking or otherwise involved in an activity. You use a wireless when you have to, when it’s an issue of safety. For many shooters that’s most of the time. I use cables in a sit down interview and that’s it.
