Exactly. It all depends on the application.
NTZ first asked about lavs and then wireless lavs.
Lavs are presumed to be hardwired unless otherwise stipulated.
Sony ECM 77B and 888B are nice
Countryman EMW, and B6 are also good.
Ther are others.

Now about WIRELESS; The sennheiser g series are pretty good, but the high end ones;
Audio Ltd., Zaxcom and Lectrosonic sound much better.
