    Hi all,

First of all, thanks to the team at MAGIX for keeping our favourite NLE alive and kicking.

I have used Vegas for 15 years or so for technical/scientific media. Results from various NVidia cards that we have bought expecting the system to “leverage the awesome power… etc”, typically end up with switching them off to fix the crashes, shortly followed by visits to forums where someone called Mike suggests that we update our drivers to the latest version! This sound familiar?

Latest version of Vegas (rather unhelpfully…) says graphic cards should be ‘NVidia 9xx or higher’, but I see a few posts recommending specific cards. AMD ones seem to rate well – even recommended by John Rofrano, who should know what he’s talking about.

Can we get a few clear recommendations to fellow users (including me!) who may be thinking about specifying new workstations and want a solution that works out of the box.

    Thanks.

Hi John. I find the whole specc-ing for a good VP PC daunting. What I did was go to the Official VegasPro Magix Forum and asked many questions. I did this during this year, so you will find the very supportative feedback relevant to 2019.

    Thanks Graham,

I’m glad it’s not just me then!

I normally get our systems made up by Chillblast as their technicians are courteous and well informed but I can’t expect them to know the ins and outs of VEGAS software architecture. Their current suggestion is i7-9700K with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 + 64GB RAM, but frankly the first time I know whether this works will be when I switch it on! Previously I have bought recommended cards that specifically offered Open CL – when that was the latest thing – but they have still given me rendering issues. Asking real world users seems a better approach.

You idea is a sound one so I shall give that a try.
