CTRL > G “shorthand”
Posted by Kelly Griffin on November 11, 2019 at 9:54 pmIs there an alternative (more convenient) way to enter a time address with CTRL > G that doesn’t require the ” : ” entry?
In other words, if I want my play head to go to 1:28:53.20, on other systems I’ve worked on I could just type “1285320.” and it would know what I wanted.
Does Vegas have a similar sidestep?

November 13, 2019 at 6:11 pm“CTRL > G” works, sure…
But my question is: Is there a way to not have to enter the colon, which requires both hands on the keyboard while entering the timecode?

November 13, 2019 at 6:41 pmSorry, I must have misunderstood. I just used Ctrl+G, then typed 00002000 (or whatever), clicked Enter and the cursor moved to the desired position.

Yup, works here. No Colons required.

November 15, 2019 at 3:13 amHi Jorma and Graham
I love a good mystery . On some of my projects, if I want to go to any position I always end up at the same point regardless of the numbers I type in. For example, I have a clip that has a total duration of 00:17:34.25. Whatever I type in, I always end up at 00:18:00.00.
Then I open a different project with the same type of files and effects and whatever numbers I type in, it gets me there. 00172321 will go to 00:17:23.21. I have been able to reproduce Kelly’s problem but only on some of my projects. There has to be a smoking gun somewhere…
Cheers !

And NOW I’m very interested. Hmmm….
Presently I’ve only come up with the Ruler Bar being different or QtF being ON or OFF. And even THAT doesn’t make any sense…. ? Can you interrogate each Project setup and determine ANY difference? What “appears” to be happening is a type of rounding-up going on and even that isn’t terribly scientific.
Interesting… ????

November 15, 2019 at 12:33 pmHey Graham, think I found it.
The difference that stood out from both is that in Files/Properties/Ruler one had Time & Frames and the other had SMPTE Drop (29.97 fps, Video).
The one causing problems was Time & Frames. No problem using Control+G and getting to where I wanted to with SMPTE Drop (29.97 fps, Video) selected.
Does it do anything for you Kelly ?
P.S.: At some point and time, I will go thru all of them and see if any others have the same effect. Keep you posted.
Cheers !
