Velocity with Disable Resample.
Hello everybody.
I’m editing gaming videos and i stumbled upon some problem that i dont know how to fix.
I use Disable Resample most the time because it provides ghost-free quality on the vids with a lot of motion, but recently i noticed, that when you use it together with Velocity function (speeding up clips by x2-3, not slowing them), footage becomes somewhat choppy and not as smooth as untouched clips. (which is weird, cus
increased speed should make them even more smoother?).
This is completely nonexistent with Smart Resample on, but motion blur you get with it is ridiculous and eye wrecking.Am i doing something wrong? Please help.

Clips i have are exact same as this. 59.94 FPS progressive.

When you speed up the playback, you are deleting frames from the original footage. If you use velocity to increase the playback speed of 59.940 fps by x3, it is the equivalent of shooting the original footage at 179.820 fps. However unlike an original footage filmed at 179.820 fps when the timeline is 59.940 fps you have deleted frames to achieve the faster playback. The deletion of these frames is going to make the playback look choppy.
I don’t have game footage, I use camera footage at 59.940 and when I use the velocity envelope to increase that playback by x3 (300%), disable resample, and Gaussian (asymmatric), I get what I think is pretty good results.
Perhaps other members have better settings for your footage. Or, maybe you can provide a link to a small rendered sample of your project and the issue.

Thank you George. It kinda makes sense now.
I guess it’s still better to have little bit choppy vid over the blur that Smart Resample provides, even tho the video is smooth as silk with it.
