Audio from video is gone!
Hello,
I was editing a video and I accidentally used the zoom edit tool (pressing D three times) and now all the sudden my tracks looked weird and my audio from the video is gone. The only audio that’s still there is from audio clips I added separately. What should I do? Is the audio gone or what happened here?

Hi Jefferson
Using the D key won’t erase anything in itself. It maybe that you’ve shrunk your tracks.
If you go to the far bottom right of your Vegas edit window, there are 2 sets of + and –
Press repeatedly on the + above the – until the tracks get larger. Then do the same with the + besides the minus.
Do you see your missing tracks ?

Frist of all, thanks for the answer. It doesn’t work either. Even if everything just shrunk, I should be able to still hear the sound right? Because I don’t hear anything. Only the sound seperate from the Video.

Correct. However I need to see just what you have and from your image I can’t ascertain anything.

That’s a better image, but again, more definition is needed to ascertain just what is going on. From the image it appears you haven’t got or imported any audio at all.
We need to see the MediaInfo of the material you’ve imported.

I did the following, I was importing a normal mp4 video and Sony Vegas creates two tracks (audio and video). Everything was normal and I wanted to drag multiple clips but I accidentally selected the magnifying glass (zoom tool) and it kinda broke everything.
I tried to make everything larger but everything still looked weird so I restarted the program and all the sudden the video track is still there but the audio track is gone. I have no explanation for what happened. I didn’t split the audio with the video or anything, it’s just gone. It looks like it’s some kind of bug or something.
Is there anything that I can do to restore the audio? The rest of the video is fine, it’s just the audio track from the original video that’s somehow gone.

Hi Jeff. We need to start over and establish what’s going on. It’s going to be tedious.
Firstly there’s no such thing as a “normal” MP4. MP4 is only a wrapper, it’s what’s inside that matters to any NLE and how it DECODEs, and here it’s something I’ve asked you to provide. Get and use the freebie MediaInfo. Secondly, unless you’re using VP13, all subsequent VPs are MAGIX not SONY. So which version of VP are you using?
Please try this. Open any Media in Trimmer. Do you see an Audio Track in Trimmer?
I’m sure we’ll get you sorted, or on the way!

No you’re not ????. Since 2016 VP SONY had sold it to MAGIX and has been owned by MAGIX. So, you’re using MAGIX VegasPro15.

I fixed it, I downloaded SeMW Extensions and used the edit: restore video/audio and the audio track is back. Still, thanks for the help.
