Vegas Rendering Quite Slowly. A Little advice?
Hey all. I have been uploading to youtube here and there for years. Problem is that my computer seems to take ages to render. Here is my computer setup…
Intel 4790K @ 4GHZ
16gb Ram
GeForce GTX970 FTW
WD 4GB Hard DriveI’m not sure if anything else is pertinent, feel free to ask for more info on the build if you need it.
I am rendering 1HR videos in 60FPS and it often takes 6-10 hours to do a single video. I’ve got my preview turned off and I’m doing single pass with a variable bitrate of 8-10MBPS.
Is there anything I can do to improve my render speed without sacrificing quality, or am I asking too much?

Sorry about the delay in replying, I am out of the country for a doc… Have you tried to render without CUDA enabled and used CPU only?
You are also using HIGH in Render as…/Custom Settings/Profile. You may try to change it to Baseline. Here’s a good read (one of them anyways) on the subject and when to use the different options.

Render time will also be linked to which and how many effects you have in your timeline. One thing you can do, for example, is to pre-render recurring segments. An intro for example. If you are using one and it’s always the same and it has a lot of effects, render it separately. You can do this for other parts also.

I’ll give it a shot without CUDA tonight. I was under the impression that since I had a strong graphics card it would benefit me. I’ll try using main instead of high as well.

So I ran with and without CUDA at 14mbps and got 3:38 rendering time for an hour and 45 minute video. That’s really not bad at all.

Happy to know it all worked out. Just out of curiosity, did you also modify the profile or only use CPU rendering ?

Hopefully I can help someone else.
I ran using baseline cpu only @ 14mbps and was able to render in about 2x the length of the video. Not bad for higher resolution!
