  Sony Vegas 12 64bit Windows 8 CineForm HD wavlet codec MOV errors

  Hello, this is my first post, but I’ve been coming here for Vegas help for years. I’ll do my best to contribute!

  My problem is I am trying to edit very large (60 MB/S) MOV files in the CineForm HD codec.
  I was able to preview and edit them fine for a while and even render a 1 min clip.

  Then, I started getting the red and black screens upon import, and eventually after too many clips, it crashes and gives the error in attachment:

  I trimmed out the excessive clips and tried to edit a 2:45 sec segment (which would preview ok). But, then I got a low memory error.

  So, I am trying to edit CineFormHD codec MOV files
  in Sony Vegas Pro 12 64bit
  running on Windows 8
  with 32GB of Ram
  (but only 2 appear to be utilized)

  I get a low memory error on renders
  and Sony Vegas will crash with too many clips in the timeline.

  I tried turning GPU processing ON & OFF (I have a lo end Nvidia), changing the enable multi… to FALSE, Dynamic RAM to 0, Multi Threads to 1, and I used CFF Explorer and I see SVP 12 already has a checkmark by over 2MB addressing. I still get the errors mentioned above.

  Does anyone have experience with this and know why Sony Vegas is crashing on me?

  I would try converting your source cineform media to .AVI from .MOV. Then point your project at the .AVI files at startup when vegas asks for missing media.

  This would rule out Quicktime fail on Windows, as any Apple product is rubbish on Windows by Apple’s design.

  If you do some research, FFMPEG should be able to re-wrap your media with no recompression.

  Hi William,

  On the heals of Aaron’s suggestion, you may be able to just rename your CineForm HD file extension from *.mov to *.avi. It worked for me in reverse with Vegas Pro 13. I use CineForm HD in an avi wrapper a lot, so I took one and simply renamed the extension to *.mov and it loads and play fine. But I don’t know for sure if this simple renaming the extension from mov to avi will work for you, may be worth a quick and dirty try.
