  • Is it possible to make your own Aspect Ratio Preset

    Hey there,

Using Vegas Pro 13 (from waaaaaay back when it was owned by sony, remember those days?)

Anyway, I love the pan/crop presets that allow for you to automatically crop to ratios like 1:1 or 16:9. I have a project where I need to crop individual objects to 8:5, which I could do the math for manually each time, but I frankly just don’t want to. Is there any way I can make this shape into a preset for vegas?

    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi,
    Definitely yes.
Setup your crop, name it, and save it.
    That’s all.

    Best regards

Not quite. See, if you crop a 16:9 image to 8:5 and save that as a preset, that preset is only accurate for other 16:9 images. If you take, for example, a 4:3 image and try to use the same preset, it will not be accurate. Oddly though, the built-in Vegas aspect ratio presets (1:1, 4:3, 16:9) are always accurate regardless of the source aspect ratio.

    Ooops, sorry.
    I wasn’t aware of that.
    Hmmm..
Could perhaps create a 8:5 preset for 4:3 images, and also another for 16:9?

    Best regards
