  I copied the MTS (Video Files) from my Memory Card rather than Importing them! :(

  Hi all,

  I am using a Sony RX10 and Vegas Pro 12.

  I made the mistake of copying the (2Gb) video files off the memory card rather than ‘importing’ them using Play Memories App 🙁

  I also removed the files from the memory card.

  …is there anything I can still do to recover or go back? or how can I get these files to join correctly etc… so I don’t get the split issue?

  Yea, glad you found that.

  It’s extremely important that you don’t remove files from the camera card structure. Lots of people do this and it’s a really bad idea. You wouldn’t pull the tape of a miniDV cassette so don’t pull the video files out of a camera card structure. That structure is the cassette that protects the video and it’s meta-data about how to stitch it back together.

  You should be copying the entire card structure to your hard drive for archival purpose. Then use the Vegas Pro import function to import the footage so that it gets stitched back together properly. In fact, I would keep a separate external drive that you archive all of your camera cards to. This is what I do. Then I can go back later and import the cards as needed.
