  • new to Sony Vegas – color corrector/video events fx window missing!

Posted by Amorhys Fenton on December 26, 2015 at 10:51 am

I am new to Sony Vegas (v.Pro13) and learning about the events fx feature. I have some how lost the Video FX control window.

I have tried re-setting the windows default layouts and then selecting the “color corrector (secondary)\boost mids” option. The “color wheels” window remains illusive which is most perplexing.

Any thoughts please wise members of this fine forum?

Can you upload a screen shot of what you are seeing? It would be difficult to help without seeing what you are seeing.

Thank you for prompt reply John, much appreciated. Here’s the screenshot to help illustrate my first post.

That window with the question mark is the Trimmer window. To display video in it, right-click your video event and select Open in Trimmer. This has nothing to do with Video FX however. It’s for trimming your source before adding it to the timeline.

There are several methods available for adding effects to video.
You can e.g. drag a preset thumbnail to a track, event, or to the Video Preview window to apply the effect.

Drag the thumbnail to an event on the timeline to see the Video Event FX window.

Or click the Event FX button on a timeline event to add effects to the event or edit event effects.

Double-click the title bar of the Video FX window to resize it for the current plug-in.

[Amorhys Fenton] “I am trying to find the color corrector wheels window. “

If you haven’t applied the Color Corrector yet, you can simply drag and drop one of the presets that you already have in the FX tab to your video and the FX window will open starting with that preset as seen in the image below (1).

If you already applied the color corrector and just want to get back to the FX window, press the Green FX button on the event that you applied it to as designated in the image above (2) and the FX Window will open back up.

It could have been moved “off the screen”. You might try changing to a higher video resolution and then locate the window and move it back to the main area. Then you can reset it to the resolution you desire.

Thank you John, that’s helping me. I followed your steps however the Color Correction window and the Color wheels still does not appear. It’s odd as it used to load up. I have edited your nice steps and added the missing window, highlighted with the green question mark.

I’ve also tried using Sony Vegas on my big screen (1280 x 800 resolution). Could it be as I am only running the trial version?
