Well i have been using sony vegas for over a year now and have just come across this problem with it and idk how it even happened, when ever i record with my webcam using virtual dub it is exported into a uncompressed .avi file which i was able to edit a few days ago, i have recently installed a blackmagic intensity pro in my pc but i don’t get how thank could be causing the problem.

what is actually happening is when i either drag or just select the file it comes up with a little error message saying “Failed to load ffmpeg.dll”

if anyone knows of this problem can someone help me out i really need to get my work done but by using SVP11

I don’t know how ffmpeg got on your system but it is definitely the problem. Ffmpeg redirects certain codecs to itself where it can process the files. Perhaps the Black Magic software installed it? Hopefully you have a restore point or backup that you can restore to a time before it was installed. If not, see if ffmpeg is listed in your installed programs and uninstall it. If not, uninstall the Black Magic software. You have to figure out what put it there and remove it.

Installing codec paks is never a good idea for video editing. I assume the problem started before the codec pak was installed.

I would use a tool like MediaInfo or GSpot with the AVI file to see if they think it is truly uncompressed. It would be interesting to see what codec they think the AVI file is using.

The video cannot be both “uncompressed” and “MJPEG”. It can only be one or the other. What does MediaInfo or GSpot say it is?
