Edit audio in SF issue
Movie Studio Platinum 12 Sound Forge Audio suite 10
Create a video on timeline .. in this case 7 short MP4 clips.
Edit video as required …. all audio clips are on same track
I want to open audio track as a copy into SF and process then put this back into VMS replacing original.When I select all the track segments it seems to do it OK .. but using right click and ‘open copy in Audio Editor’ it only places first section in editor not all of them.
Is there a way to link all of these tracks into one audio track.
I tried highlighting all, and using ‘new group’ – but again although they ‘move’ as a group on timeline, when I open in editor only first audio clip is opened.
Is there a neat/preferred way to select ‘all’ audio on a track and open it in editor.

Rick, I guess the way I would do it is to mute all tracks other than the track with the audio on it that I wanted to edit, and then render out to an audio file which I would then open in my audio editing program.

You cannot open a Track in Sound Forge, you can only open an Event. This is why you only got the first event. You will need to do as Phil suggested and render your audio track to a single event if you want to edit the whole track in Sound Forge.

Is there a way to have all events on a track be ‘grouped’ into single event (which is what rendering out does)
In the same way you concatenate files in many programs, even if it has to create it as a new track.

No, because Sound Forge is a file based editor so you need a single file to edit. Grouping a collection of events is still a collection of files. The only way to get one file is to render.

Let me give you a simpler approach to the same thing because it’s really just two steps:
- Press the Solo button on the audio track
- Press Ctrl+M to Render to a New Track
That’s it! That will render the track for you and import it back into Vegas Pro as a new track all automatically. Then just right-click the event on the new track and Edit in Audio Editor and you’re in business.

Took a bit of a while to figure out how to use ‘solo’ function, not had call to use this before, and how to put track back without stretching time-line … but got there.
Once I realised you have to use ‘ctl click’ to deselect and initially it deselects all audio, then do it again to select it worked.
Then you can open copy in SF as I wanted to. 🙂
