I am in the market for buying a new laptop, and want one that can handle Sony Vegas easily and it would be nice if the videos could be HD. My maximum price is $1000. I am currently looking a HPs. Specifically the Pavilion 6 series. The base price for the dv6t with Intel is $579.99. I also have an external hard drive of 1 TB.

    Here are the options

    +$25.00
    2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2430M Processor (2.4 GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) Turbo Boost to 3.0 GHz

There is also the dv6zqe that uses the AMD processor and the main difference is the processor

    AMD Quad-Core A6-3420M Accelerated Processor (2.4GHz/1.5GHz, 4MB L2 Cache)
    Included in price
    AMD Quad-Core A6-3430MX Accelerated Processor (2.4GHz/1.7GHz, 4MB L2 Cache)
    +$20.00
    AMD Quad-Core A8-3520M Accelerated Processor (2.5GHz/1.6GHz, 4MB L2 Cache)
    +$50.00
    AMD Quad-Core A8-3550MX Accelerated Processor (2.7GHz/2.0GHz, 4MB L2 Cache)

I would be open to other brands also, except for Toshiba considering the last one was a nightmare (and under no circumstances will I get another). Which would run Sony Vegas 11 HD the best with out going over my budget?

For HD I’d look at the I7 – 2630qm or 2670qm with nvidia graphics for Cuda support. Quad cores will get you faster rendering times. Lenovo makes some interesting machines.
