I just installed Vegas and have my first movie to render out. I click “Make Movie” and get the render options. Is there a setting that is UNCOMPRESSED, like an uncompressed .avi or something?

    Thanks

    Thank you

Yes, but how you do it differs depending on if you are using Movie Studio HD 10.0 or Movie Studio HD 11.0.

    In Movie Studio HD 10.0:

Choose Make Movie | Save it to my hard drive. Select Video for Windows (*.avi) as the format and Default Template (uncompressed) as the Template.

    In Movie Studio HD 11.0:

Choose Make Movie | Save it to my hard drive. Check the box that says = Match project settings. Scroll down to Video for Windows (*.avi) and select any template. Then press the Customize Template… button, go to the Video tab and change the Format to Uncompressed.

Understand that uncompressed video will result in an extremely large video file that may be hard to work with.

John thank you very much. You saved me a lot of time. And MERRY CHRISTMAS!

John one more easy question, HOW do I just render a part of my time line and not ALL of it?

And I’m going right to DVD with my movie, (1920 x 1080) (render Widescreen DVD not HD or BlueRay)

Which of the MANY presets would give me the highest qualty of video when I’m sitting there watching it on my TV?

    THANKS

    Thank you

[Joey Condeelis] “HOW do I just render a part of my time line and not ALL of it?”

Make a timeline selection (also called a Loop selection) and then when you render, check the box that says [x] Render loop region only.

DVD requires MPEG2 video so you definitely don’t need to render uncompressed. You also will be rendering 720×480 not 1920×1080 because DVD’s are SD not HD.

I Movie Studio you can use Tools | Burn Disc | DVD… to make a DVD with no menus and just the video. If you want menus, you’ll need DVD Architect Studio and then:

    1. Press the Make Movie button
    2. Select Burn it to a DVD or Blu-ray Disc and press Next
    3. Select DVD and press Next
    4. Set the path you want the rendered files placed in, make sure Use widescreen DVD format is checked and press Next to render.

When the render is complete, press the Send to DVD Architect Studio button and author your DVD in DVD Architect Studio.

John once again Thank You for your time I really appreciate your help. I’m just doing all this editing to cut about a years worth of video of my family from my Sony camera and really don’t have the time to learn Vegas. (love Vegas ripple) I used Peremiere but I only have CS3 and it cannot read the files, the update is $1500, not an option right now:)

Listen one last question. HOW do I set my what you call the loop, or the in and out of what I want to render on my timeline. I can not seem to find it. I’m a hot key nut, for Peremiere it’s Alt Left bracket Key to set the in and ….

    THANKS again for your help

    Thank you

[Joey Condeelis] “HOW do I set my what you call the loop, or the in and out of what I want to render on my timeline.”

You can drag your mouse across the top of the timeline to make a loop selection (this is what I do).

[Joey Condeelis] ” for Peremiere it’s Alt Left bracket Key to set the in and ….”

For Vegas it’s I for in and O for out.

Thanks again John, I think I’m good to go now.

I have edited about 10 family videos and enjoying Vegas and trying to understand why I needed to pay so much $$$$ for my Premiere and Avid. I can’t believe what Vagas can do at HD. Yes it renders as slow as a dog, but I can live with that. Listen I have a 64bit power horse, can this Vegas run on 64bit?

    MERRY CHRISTMAS

    Thank you

You need to buy Vegas Pro to get 64-bit support. Vegas Pro also has more GPU support so it might render faster but it still might not. Results have been mixed. I would download the 30-day trial and see your yourself before spending any money.
