Wow, I posted three days ago as I’m on deadline and the powers that be at CCow have not yet posted my question? Very bizarre.

I desperately need info on the best rendering settings for MP4.

I am on AVCHD and it must be exported as MP4.

I find it all pretty confusing but have come up with one that works, it needs to be highest quality, playable on both Mac and PC and not a giant file size — although I know it will be big.

I am also doing 16 bit even though some recommend 8 because it’s higher.

I am wondering if there’s a better setting than AVCHD since that comes up m2s and I can’t do that so I manually change it to MP4.

Also, I am rendering and then putting in rendered sections to render again — is MP4 the best format to use for that?

I would really appreciate if this time my post was posted and welcome any advice on this. Thanks in advance!

Choose “Sony AVC/MVC *.mp4, *.m2tsd, *.avc)” in the “Save as type” box.
Once you do that, there are several Internet templates to choose from, depending on your needs.

“Also, I am rendering and then putting in rendered sections to render again — is MP4 the best format to use for that?”

I don’t use AVCHD but I’d render to the same file spec as the original files.
