move several events in one chapter at once?
I have a chapter that may have several events I want to put in the video time line. Is it possible to somehow mark them off before moving them as I do no one at a time and move them all at once? I have vegas 9 platinum. Moving them one by one works but it slow. I have lots to do this to. Besides it would be a great thing to know if it is possible.

Do you mean that you have several events that you want to add to your timeline or do you have several events that you want to move to a different place on your timeline?
Both can be done easily but we need to know what you want to do as the methods are different. -
Sorry your answer got sent to spam somehow. What I want is to select several events in one chapter on the video overlay (5 min)then move them to the timeline all at once. Now I split one off and move it then go back and do it again.

On my screen after I delete the top text track the next one is named video overlay then the next track is the main timeline video track for final deposit of my edited video track. I have been dropping a chapter into the overlay track, split off an event then move the event down into the video track. Find the the next one and so on. What I would like to do is mark off all the events in that chapter I want then all at once move them into the main video track. Also I find the trimmer useful by opening the event in the trimmer and move the cursor by the right and left arrows which make the picture in the trimmer time line move like the video preview window. This was discussed recently but I am sure you knew that.
Anything to speed things up is appreciated. I still have a lot of events to find and isolate in a movie.Hope to see you

I use Vegas Pro which starts up empty and I add them as needed.
You’re using Movie Studio which opens up with a preset layout.To move a bunch of events (not clips or chapters, just in case you do a search in the manual for that word) from the overlay track to the main video track, click on the first one, hold down the Shift key and click on the last one (this temporarily groups them all together), click the left mouse button and drag everything from the overlay track to the new location on the main video track.
I’m aware of the trimmer but rarely use it as I prefer to do my trimming on the main timeline.

I picture shows where I have marked off 3 events I want moved down into the timeline. Normally I have had to split off each one and move it down into the timeline. I don’t see how I can extract them and move them. Maybe the picture will clear up what I mean.

That’s because you can’t.
Vegas isn’t smart enough to know that you only want the sections between the markers so you still have to trim them or split at the markers and delete the unwanted material before you move them.
If you did this in the trimmer, you’d be able to double-click between markers and drag that section only to the timeline.
Either way, you can only trim one event at a time. -
Well that settles that. Looks like though marking it off in the trimmer may save a couple steps. Thanks.

Turns out there is a way after all.
I vaguely remembered a recent post about a quick way to trim unwanted material so I went to the online help and found it.
Highlight the area between the markers by double-clicking it and then press Ctrl+t.
This deletes anything not highlighted and leaves you with that segment only.BTW, click on the event and use the 2 key on the numeric keypad to move it down to the next available track.
Numeric 8 will move it up one track.Note that these shortcuts work in Pro 10.

Fantastic! I especially like using the keypad to get it into the right track. There is so much to this program I don’t know it is astounding
