    Hello everybody
    I am the proud owner of a new i7 2600 3.4 GHZ
I own a HDR FX1, I need to do a two camera shoot. I am considering something like the TM7000 for a second camera ( AVCHD ) Would I be wiser to buy the Cannon HV-40 and keep the all project HDV? Or will the i7 be ok with cuts, dissolves, and titles mixing the two ( No crazy efx ).
If I do mix the formats in one timeline should I setup the project as AVCHD 1080i or HDV 1080i?
I am running Vegas Studio Platinum 10. I assume the upgrade to 11 is wise do to some tweeking on how it handles AVCHD.
    Thanks
    Brad

I have a TM700, I gather that’s what you meant. I capture at 1080 60p and edit on an i7 laptop and it works fine. I still have a Sony HVR-A1 HDV camera but won’t use it as an HDV camera after using the TM700. I will use it when capturing live without a tape and capturing with a BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle via component as Motion JPEG. I bypass the HDV compression this way. Heres a video of a Sony Viao laptop i7 playing a 1080 60p video with Vegas Pro 10. You may need Pro 10 to get these results though, as it’s better with AVCHD.

Thank you for your help. You are correct I meant TM7000. I assume you use The Black magic to capture real time and avoid the tape to disk transfer time, but does that codec help as well? Is it less load on the computer compared to editing two AVCHD streams or more important AVCHD and HDV? and one last question, do you use AVCHD for you project settings?
    Thank You again!

I sometimes mix HDV with AVCHD and I set my project to HD 1920×1080 so that I don’t compromise the AVCHD resolution.
