project in vegas 8 freezing when opening
I have several problems going on in vegas and really need someone to try and explain several questions that I have. I have been working on a project and everything was going well until I added 5 more clips to the timeline. Ever since then the project will freeze upon opening it up. If I am lucky enough to get it to open without problems then it will usually give the exception error message and force me to close it. I have several questions based on information that I have read on this forum.
First, my clips are from dvds (video that was recorded on a dvd sony handycam) that was brought in as mpeg2 clips. I have read the mp2 clips are hard on vegas. Is that true?
Second, I read that for a quick fix uncheck the waveform and frames button. I did that and so far no problems but when I turn it back on it freezes.
Third question (for now, more later) is I read if one clip is bad then it can make the whole project have problems. Is this true? If so how do I know there is something wrong with that clip? All clips will play just fine as long as it does not crash/freeze up while playing the clip. I have more questions but want to start small so that I can learn and understand things. It sounds like Vegas has a problem with one or more of the last five clips you added. Try removing them and open each in a new Vegas project to see which one(s) are causing the problem.

I will try that. So a bad clip can make the program freeze or get the exception error? I know there can be many other reasons for this but need to start somewhere.
