How do I get rid of the shadow under my masked track in Sony Vegas Pro 10?
I have a mask set up to do an effect where I interact with another copy of myself. Right now, it’s just set up against a clear white background, but, for some reason, there is a shadow under the the mask. I move the mask around and change the feathering, but the shadow won’t go away! How do I get rid of it?

Turn off feathering?

I think I figured it out. The only way I could make it go away was to turn off feathering altogether, but that wouldn’t do because the backgrounds didn’t mesh together that. But I realized that the problem seemed to be that I was using the “increase gamma” effect to lighten the top layer, and, for whatever reason, Sony Vegas doesn’t seem to recognize effects for the feathered portion of the video, so the “shadow” was just a part of the original, darker video showing through. I solved the problem by rendering the video as a new mp4 file with with the effects, but not the mask, then I applied the mask, with feathering, to the new mp4 that had no effects.

In that case I think the pre/post toggle button could have helped you.

The pre/post toggle button is the small arrow on the left side of the name of an effect at the timeline which is present in the videoFX window
