  NOOB: Vegas Movie Studio DVD Import – Audio Truncated

  First, apologies if there is a specific Movie Studio forum… I didn’t see it.

  I’m using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0b – the latest.

  I’m trying my first camcorder DVD import function. The import appears to work OK, however for each “segment” (sorry, I don’t know exactly how it’s doing the import, only that there are multiple ‘segments’ in a VOB) the audio is shorter than the video by around 13-14 frames.

  There *should* be audio there – when the DVD is played, the audio is present.

  Any clues, hints, suggestions? I *assume* this is a VMS problem, as opposed to a camcorder issue.

  There’s another way. In Windows Explorer, copy all the .vob files to your hard drive, rename them to .mpg, then add them to the Vegas timeline and see if this makes a difference. This has always worked for me. Danny Hays

  Gave that a whirl – no go… in fact, it seems that in this method, not even all of the video shows up.

  I did finally get a work around by getting a copy of the audio from the DVD and put it on the timeline in lieu of the audio from the VOB. I may have been lucky (I was expecting sync issues), but it matched up OK. FWIW, I used “Super” to create DV files from the VOBs and then took only the audio from the DV files.

  I did the same project using video from the DV and VOB files, but haven’t compared the end result DVD. I would expect using the VOBs to give a better quality video. I’ll compare against the original to see what looks best.
