stuck with an audio issue and deadline
This has to be something simple, but I’m an infrequent SV user who tends to forget things between uses. This one’s a Christmas project for the grandparents. Thank you all for being here!
I’ve finished creating a project in Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0. It’s about 1.5 hours long with a mix of standard and high-def video clips + soundtracks, still photos, mp3 music clips and some text blocks (titles created in Media Generator)–all pretty usual stuff I would imagine.
I have hit the Make Movie button on the top bar (choosing Burn It To a DVD, Blu-ray disk or CD, then type=DVD, then accepted defaults for the paths, etc) and it created 4 files: .mpg, .ac3, .mpg.sfl, and .ac3.sfl. I had a blank DVD disk in the hopper expecting it to automatically burn after rendering, but it did not. Guess I’ve got to look through DVDArchitect to find how to get there, but that’s not the immediate question.The immediate problem is with the audio on the results–there ain’t any. I’ve looked at the .mpg file by firing it off in Windows Media Player–all the visual is there but no sound whatsoever. I also used same to burn a DVD directly–it burned successfully but again, no sound.
Here is a possible issue: all the content, video and audio, reside on external hard drives. The video and still photos are on one external; the music clips on another. The 4 files (.mpg, etc, above) were sent to one of the externals (the video/photos one). Of course I had both external drives connected and on throughout the rendering.
Any thoughts please?

First thought’s, If you viewing the .mpg file alone, your playing the video track only.
Your .AC3 file contains the audio to go with the .mpg video.
If you have VLC (video lan client) installed, you can play the AC3 audio file to confirm it is there.If MSP9 rendered .mpg and .AC3 files your half way there, those files need to be authored to a DVD. That’s DVD Architect’s job. You add the chapters and any menu’s you want.

Thank you Steven, I’ll learn the basics of Architect. Right now I don’t need to jazz up the DVD presentatin–only get the project burned to a DVD to qc if it all looks as it does in SV Movie and show to a couple of critics 😀 . If there’s a one-button proceedure for that in Architect, I’d appreciate that info. Otherwise I’ll assume what you have supplied me is the minimum basics and I’m sure I’ll figure it out (cannot right now due to committments–I’ll be back tommorrow if I prove too stupid).
