  Audio Sync Issues

  I am working in FCP 6.06 on a Macbook Pro 2.8GHz with 6GB of RAM. I am having to export audio out of an AVI recording from SuperTinTin of a Skype conversation which is converted to MPEG4 and then the audio is exported as an AIF in order to sync the video and audio.

  I am having many, many issues with a full awareness that mainly the problem is bandwidth when it comes to recording Skype. That said I am wondering why when I export the audio from the MPEG4 files in Quicktime their duration changes. Sometimes they are longer for a few seconds while other times they are shorter but always by a few seconds.

  Why is this happening? What can I do to alleviate this problem?

  Any help in understanding what is going on would be greatly appreciated.
