.mp4 quality issue
Posted by Julie Cohen on August 27, 2010 at 9:27 pmI have a .mp4 video that when I play with quicktime looks fine. As soon as I pull it into Vegas (no settings changes etc) the quality is poor meaning that the images are blurred/fuzzy/hard to see. Help!

August 27, 2010 at 9:57 pmWhere did the file originally come from?
How large (in pixels) is it? -

August 27, 2010 at 10:02 pmI just jing screen capture software to take a video of a software program on my computer. Like I said, the quality is fine when I play it back in QuickTime before bringing it into Vegas.
It’s 2.13 MB and I’m not sure how to find out the pixel size.

August 27, 2010 at 10:08 pmWhat screen capture program is it?
Can you save it another format besides mp4?
To find out what size it is, right-click on the file while it’s in the Project Media tab in Vegas and select Properties.
About 1/2 way down this window is “Attributes”.
What does it say there? -

August 27, 2010 at 10:11 pmThanks – here is what attributes said: 22,050 Hz, 16 Bit, Mono, 00:00:58;28
I can’t save it in another format. I was using the free version which created .smf files but Vegas didn’t support them so I bought the pro version which has .mp4 files. I think something must be happening when I bring the file into the project media folder in Vegas.

August 31, 2010 at 10:03 amJulie, that should look OK.
Is your Preview window set to Best/Full when you’re judging quality?
