  Edit my Youtube Video

  I downloaded my Youtube video as an avi with the intention of editing it in Sony but when I import it only the audio shows, no video. How can I make the entire movie go into Sony so I can edit it? I want to wipe the old audio track and substitute a new one which I have prepared. Thanks

  Do you not have the original project?

  AVI is only a wrapper and consequently there are a wide variety of codecs used, some of which Vegas doesn’t know what to do with.
  What program did you use to download it?
  See if there are other AVI options for the download.

  Thanks for responding, Mike. I don’t have the original, no. I used some random Internet program to download it. Should I have selected another format such as mpeg or whatever? Thanks!

  I’ve been using Free Studio for any YouTube downloads I do and am pretty happy with it.
  It claims to save in (amongst other choices) AVI format but it’s actually an MP4 file.
  Depending on which version of Vegas you have (I’m using Pro 9), this particular format may be a problem for you.
