getting dvd into vegas
I have a loop marked out but cant find how to remove it. I see no place in help that tells me. I was testing the function to see how it worked. This basic enough?

A bit more information would help here.
Is the loop a section of the DVD or …? -
This is just a loop in the timeline. You designate s section in the time line.Just one of the editing functions. But I don’t want it there any more. Take one of your projects, select a portion for looping then when done how do you remove it from the timeline.

Pressing the Delete button works for me.

There appears something else going on. The delete button deletes the event. clicking on the looping area removes the shaded area then delete makes it disappear. Something else is going on because the video track is in the middle between the text and video overlay and i couldn’t even get a looping area designated. Next time I will go to the delete window and see if it or the event disappears. You would think that these brilliant people could figure out that newcomers to their program might need to know how to stop looping and go to something else. xperts don’t need this help. But I just paid 125 for this thing and will continue until I can make some sort of a movie. I got rid of it by quitting the program without saving changes but of course when I get into serious editing I cant do that. Have a nice day.

Here’s another way of deleting a specific portion of a clip.
Click the audio or video event (to highlight it) at the start of the desired split point.
Now press the ‘S’ key (Split).
Repeat this process at the end of the desired split point.
Now click on the section in the middle and press Delete.Another way to do it is to split it at the beginning point, place your cursor at the start of the section to be deleted and drag the cursor to the right until you get to the desired out point.
Let the cursor go and you now have two segments with the centre portion deleted.

Assuming your version has this option (Pro does), go Options – Prefs – Editing and enable the Collapse loop region when no time selection is present option. -
OK thanks I got it. I have the platinum pro 9. To remove the loop double click on the loop which removes loop then the area turns blue so then click on a clear area and the screen returns to normal. Don’t know how I got into this as I didn’t have any looping in mind. But this is brand new to me so I will have to learn everything.
Whats your opinion of the capability of bleeping out offensive words? Is it easy? I suppose it has something to do with expanding the time line. Also how about covering small areas of the screen when objectionable things are shown? I’m not into pornography but a have some film of old time rock festivals I may put on youtube if I can clean them up. Yes, Woodstock was not the only rock festival in the country.

That’s just the way things are done in Vegas (default settings, that is) which is why I gave you an option to change it if so desired.

IMO, very easy.
Click and any audio event and press the ‘V’ key (short for Volume envelope).
You should now see a thing blue line that runs the entire timeline.
You need to add 2 points at the beginning and two points at the end of a section where you wish to lower the volume.
Zoom into the section where the word is so you can easily see the waveform.
Make the track larger by clicking and dragging the bottom of the track header to make it easier to see the audio waveform.
Double-click the blue line twice at the beginning and twice at the end of the word to add points.
Click on the line between points 2 & 3 and drag it down to the bottom.
Individual points can be dragged as desired.

The easiest way is to add a solid colour event on a track above the one with the objectionable things.
Open the Pan/Crop window on the colour and size and position as desired.
There are many other techniques but this should get you started.
