  Please critique my workflow

  OK, First of all, excuse my ignorance. I am new to video editing, so I wanted to present my workflow so that others can give me some hints on how to make it better, faster, or easier.

  Computer specs are:

  Intel i7
  8 Gigs of RAM
  LG Blu-ray writer
  150 gb 10,000 RPM OS drive
  1 tb scratch drive

  I start with videos that are either:

  1. Recorded from VCR or 8mm camcorder into computer via Canopus ADVC110. These end up as AVI files.
  2. AVCHD files from Sony SR11 converted to AVI via Cineform’s NeoScene.

  I import videos into Vegas Pro 9 and edit everything on the timeline, simply cutting and splicing parts and adding fades. I then export each video file individually using the Blu-ray template at 1920×1080, which gives me a .m2v video file and a .mpa audio file. I then open DVD Architect 5, and insert individual videos where I want them (which automatically includes the audio files). I will then burn to Blu-ray using template similar to that used in Vegas pro for Blu-ray authoring.

  Keep in mind that these are simply home movies that I want to save in the best quality possible. How could I make this better, easier, or faster?
