September 15, 2009 at 2:14 pmUsing the basic Titler, enter all your text on a single line.
Adjust font type, size & colour accordingly.
Figure out how long you want the scroll to take and enter this value in the “Length” box.
Click on the Placement tab.
Moe the text to the right using either the hand in the text box or by entering a value in the “X” box.
This creates a keyframe at the beginning.
Take note of the values in both the “X” and “Y” boxes.
Go to the end of the timeline by clicking the “Last Keyframe” button.
Enter the values noted previously in the “X” & “Y” boxes but change the “X” value to a negative number.
For example, if “X” was set to “10” on the first keyframe, make sure it’s now set to “-10”.
Also, make sure the “Y” values are identical or you’ll see the text float up and/or down.
Play it to make sure your length is correct.
If not, adjust it accordingly and remember to change the position of the last keyframe.
That should do it. -

September 16, 2009 at 8:29 amThanks Mike. However, I couldn’t see a “Last Keyframe” button anywhere in the titler. Is this in Vegas movie studio? In fact there was nothing to indicate that a first keyframe had been created when I put a value in the X box at the start. More help please? Thanks.

September 16, 2009 at 11:08 amAlex, a keyframe is automatically created any time you make a change.
You should see a number of diamond-shaped symbols at the very bottom of the text generator timeline and one of these will say “Last Keyframe” when you hover over it.
If you don’t have these (and I have no idea why, place you cursor at the end of the timeline and make the desired change(s).
A keyframe will be automatically created for you. -

September 16, 2009 at 11:42 amThe core of my problem is that there is no timeline or symbols on either of my text generators, text or scrolling text. I have version 9 platinum edition. Without this timeline I cannot scroll the text horizontally. I need to know where the timelines have gone. Any idea anyone?

September 16, 2009 at 12:38 pmIt’s OK, I found it by going to the Sony site. I exposed the timeline using a double arrow, so I will now try again.

September 16, 2009 at 12:44 pmYes, I’ve done it. Thanks for all your help Mike. It’s just as well this happened as I didn’t realize that my timeline wasn’t displaying.

September 16, 2009 at 12:56 pmAlex, I’m glad to hear that it worked out for you.
And that you were able to solve the problem on your own too 🙂
That issue (hidden timeline) comes up a lot and the arrow trick usually fixes it.
