  Very basic issue – this is driving me insane!

  Hello folks.

  OK, my problem is this:

  You know when you drop some video into Vegas? Of course you do. We’ve all done this.

  Whatever the resolution of the video (let’s say 800×600), Vegas zooms it to fit the output display window (which for my project is 900×675). Correct?

  Is there ANY WAY I can tell Vegas to just leave videos, gifs, jpegs – WHATEVER – at their actual size when I drop them in? I really do not want any sizing up for this project! I need them to remain at their original resolution!

  Speedy answers would be most appreciated as I’m compositing this thing tonight. Thanks in advance!!

  Unfortunately no. Vegas assumes that you want anything & everything you drop on the timeline to fill the frame.
  Most of the time, this is the case and it’s not an issue.
  For you it is though and here’s the (somewhat convoluted) workaround.

  You’ll need to open the Pan/Crop window for every single event you have on the timeline that you need to correct and reset it to match it’s original size.

  Once it’s open, right-click in the centre and select Match Output Aspect and then change the Width and Height values (under Position at the top left) from their current values to your numbers.
  Now the event will be at it’s original size.

  If you have events (video clips or images) that are all the same original size, you only have to do this once.
  To apply the changes to any same-sized events, make sure Pan/Crop is closed, right-click the event and select Copy.
  Now click (and Shift-click if there’s more than one) the next same-sized event(s), right-click and select Paste Event Attributes.

  **Be advised that this will copy ANY & ALL attributes that are applied to the first event including such things as position, colour correction and FX so this adjustment should be done first.
