Rarely is a graphic placed on the screen for no reason. I see small triangles on all the corners (except lower right) of an event placed on the timeline. What do they mean? The top ones seem to be shaded in blue for some reason. What do the colors mean? The lower left one is movable as a snap offset. I also see little triangles along the bottom of some events. Audio events don’t seem to have them. Sometimes they are black (event not selected), other times they are white (event selected). What are they for? If you zoom in, you see more of them. Some are larger than others and regularly spaced. On some events they seem to correspond to frame boundaries. On other events, they don’t. Sometimes I see triangles on the top of an event too. I cannot find most of these thingys documented anywhere. They probably are, and I could find them if I knew what they were. I just don’t like for there to be things on the screen that I can’t identify! What about you?!
    Thanks,
    Charles Lawrence

If you could somehow give us a screen shot it might help.

I will post a screen shot a little later, but I thought I was fairly descriptive on my explanation. These things are readily observable on the timeline events. No problem seeing them, especially if you zoom in.

Got to run right now though. Thanks,

The blue triangles in the upper left and right corners are the handles for moving the fade (transition) area. The white one in the lower left is the ‘snap offset’ I have never used it so I did a little research and found this explanation by Grazie last year: It offsets the Snap. The Snap is the point at which Events will be “felt” to snap to each other. You will also see the vertical Snapping Coloured line indicating as much. So, if you wanted to Snap two events, but one inside the other, you would offset the snap. I’m not sure that I know any more about it even after I have read that.

Thank you Terry for your response,

I have discovered a few things. I don’t think the blue triangles on the upper left and right corners are “grabable” like the white one in the lower left is. The cursor actually changes to a pointing finger with left/right arrows when you hover over the snap offset triangle, and when you move the cursor, the triangle moves with it and stays where you drop it. The upper triangles don’t move when you add a fade offset, but they DO change colors. If a fade has been set, the triangles are no longer blue, but white. They are cyan if a fade has been set, but you are zoomed out too far to see it.

I know this is nit-picky stuff, but I like to know what things are and why they change. I still can’t find it documented anywhere.

The downward pointing triangle on the interior top of a event appears to be an indication of the actual length of the media in the event. For example, if you drag the edge of the event to extend the event length (but not the media length), then this little triangle shows up to indicate media length.

More discoveries to come, I’m sure,
    Charles
