I have sony vegas 9 and have more than many issues. But lets start with the easier ones. First when opening sony vegas I seem to have two file paths for my projects. If vegas asks me to open a new project then this project is under documents>sony projects. If I click on open existing projects then I am taken to John>app>local>tempory>sony>9.0>. This file tree is one that seems to be hidden because I can’t locate it when I search for it. Is this normal and if not what has caused two file paths for projects

The first thing you need to do is to change your default paths.
If you have more than one hard drive (highly recommended, even if it’s an external that’s been formatted as NTFS), do all your capturing and editing to that drive.
If you don’t have a second drive (please get one, they’re very cheap these days!!), create a master Vegas folder on drive C and get into the habit of placing all project-related material in that folder.
I use Vegas Pro but the path location should be similar.
Go to Options – Preferences – General.
At the bottom of this tab is the Temporary files folder.
Change this to a Temp folder that you created on your other drive or, failing that, to a different location that you’ve specified on your Drive C.

As to why you can’t find john>app>local>tempory>sony>9.0>, odds are that it’s a hidden file and your system is set to not show them.
To change this behaviour, open up My Computer and select Tools- Folder Options – View.
Part way down this list is a folder called Hidden files and folders.
Double-click it and click the Show hidden files and folders option.
You’ll now be able to find the “missing” files.

BTW, this is for XP, not Vista, if that’s what you ‘re using.

TOD is actually an M2T file but apparently changing the extension won’t work in Vegas 🙁

Here’s a reply from a user on another Vegas forum.

Vegas can handle the TOD file as is!
File>Import> Files of type>All Files>whatever the file is named.TOD. Vegas will import the file as a video file into Project Media, and you can double click, or drag it into the timeline, and edit it. Works just fine, no need to change the extension. You can also specify open the file with Vegas, and Vegas will import the .TOD file to project media and place it in the timeline.
