Hi there, i have quite a few short videos on my pc from 2007 & 2008 that i want to edit and arange onto two seperate dvd’s.

All i have is ulead video studio 8 which im guessing its as basic as they come, and found that when i have extracted video clips off a dvd-r disk to be edited there was no sound playing back, why is this? very confusing for a beginner!!

I also had a problem when i extracted video clips off my Sony handycam HDR-SR10 (HD AVCHD), i wasnt able to open or drag a file into this software.

So this is why i thinking off buying Sony vegas 8 platinum, ive read some good reviews on this. I dont want to spend the money on it if its going to give me the same problems. So if anyone could be kind enough to tell me if these problems would accure with sony vegas, or why these problems were happening in the first place!!

    thanks.

    1. I would recommend you download the free trial to ensure that it will import your files correctly. You can go to File/Import/DVD Camcorder disc and it should import the DVD footage (it will take some time depending on the size of the disc, the speed of your disc drive, etc. Also, it should have no problem with AVCHD- although, avchd is very taxing on systems.

    2. I am unfamiliar with Ulead’s product. It could simply be that it doesn’t know how to handle avchd or ac3 audio files.
