    Looking at a sony hdr-hc9. I see that vid rec system is either mpeg2 or dv-dvi.

    Should one use dv-avi, is this the preferred capture mode into vegas ms for editing?

    why does cam offer both? Does it have to do with option to edit further or at all ?

    AVI is better for vegas as with most NLEs. MPEG is what DVDs are made from so if you dont need to edit, you can burn mpeg to DVD without rendering. Maybe that’s why the camera has that ability. Danny Hays
