    Greetings from a newbie!
If I prepare a video with Sony Vegas Pro 8 (actually a slideshow with music for YouTube), I render a top quality uncompressed AVI that is up to 400 MB in size. For uploading to YouTube I modify the file to a smaller AVI that ends up being no larger than 15 MB.
Although the original and the compressed one look OK when watched using my PC, the video looks extremely blurred on YouTube and using the high quality mode doesn’t correct it much. AnyVideo Converter is used to compress the file.
Any suggestions on rendering with SV to get the right sharpness on YouTube, maybe at a smaller file size?

You tube will re-encode everything that is uploaded to them I hear. Alot of people are using mp4 format. I would make it the highest quality without going over the 100 mbit limit. Hope this helps.

Thanks! I just found out that rendering an uncompressed AVI with Sony Vegas and then compressing it to the suggested MP4 format using AnyVideo provides a much sharper image when uploaded to YouTube and will also make the “view in high quality” option appear on the video page.
The only thing is that the uncompressed original is HUGE, but no problem, since it’s only a bridge to get to the final file it can be deleted. The MP4 does not go over 15MB.
    Thank you again.

I found mp4 to be a lot more blurry than wmv and render everything to that… so far uploads have been without problem – crisp and sharp :o)
