  Freezing during render

  Hello everyone,

  I have been having a strange problem with Vegas lately. I am trying to render a project to an MPEG2 file (so that I can ultimately burn it to a DVD) but every time I attempt to render the project it freezes at random points. The last few times I attempted the render it froze at 22%, 92%, 51% and 90%. There are a couple of strange things about this issue. First of all, whenever it freezes the “Approximate time left” and “Elapsed time” continue to count up/down. Also, if I pull up the task manager I can see that CPU usage is very low.

  My computer, when the CPU overheats, always locks up (that is how my motherboard deals with thermal events) so I know that that is not what is happening here. Has anyone else had this issue, or can any of you suggest a solution to this problem?

  I may have stumbled onto a solution. I tried reducing the number of rendering threads (Preferences -> Video tab) from 4 to 2 and then the render finished without incident. Hopefully this completely solves the problem, and hopefully this information will help other people.
