  Rendering times

  Hi , im VERY new on Sony vegas pro 8 and have a question concerning rendering.

  My first project was simply to cut an avi in half and save the first half as an avi while getting rid of the last 20 mins i didnt need.
  However after successfully doing this there was no option to save as an avi file so I chose render instead which seems to be working but is taking ages !
  Do I really need to render the file to save it as an .avi when all i did was shorten it by 20mins ? and should it take an hour for a 20 min clip to be rendered as an .avi which was an .avi in the first place ?

  I know there’s an option to not re-render long GOP structure mpeg files but I think AVI’s have to render if any changes are made. I’m sure one of the other leaders will know how if it’s possible. How ’bout it guys??
