I’ve been using 7 for some time now but only today needed to adjust the brightness to an event. I’ve read several articles on here about using color correction instead. Nonetheless, I can’t seem to drag the FX into the event or make any noticeable change in the event. I move the sliders and etc then close the window and no change.

    Any help appreciated.

I suspect you have the effects set to “bypass” so NONE are showing up. Check the bypass effects button just above the preview screen and make sure it’s turned off. It’s the button that’s a circle that’s half light and half dark. There’s also a drop-down arrow beside it so that you can change how it works.

    Tried it, still not working.

Then look to see if you’re adjusting keyframes AFTER the cursor location or something else. 99% of the time, the “effects bypass” option is turned on. I’m sure if we could sit down with you, we could figure it out very quickly. Unfortunately, it’s tough to do long distance.

When I turn the fx bypass switch off and have the cursor on the event the preview screen goes black.

There’s a drop-down arrow beside the effects bypass button. See what it’s set to.

Bottom line: Effects bypass should be OFF and you should make sure you’re adjusting the proper keyframe (i.e. one BEFORE the cursor location with no other keyframes between the one you’re adjusting and the cursor.

The only way to turn off the FX Bypass bottom is to click on “Clipboard”. As far as your other comment, I’m lost. I put my cursur on the event, click to highlite it, then click on the effect button to bring up the effect I want. I make the adjustments and nothing happens. When I click on Clipboard, the preview screen goes black.

UPDATE: I just found out when I click on the square button that you’ve all been talking about, the results of all my screwing around with the brightness slider now shows up. I have a real mess on my hands now.

It turned black because the clipboard was empty. Glad to hear you finally got it turned off.

Can I render the vid now with the bypass button off and it not pick up the brightness adjustments I made?

Just delete the effects from the events and start over.
