A video I received has varying black levels, mostly on a scene-by-scene; what is the best way to trim the black level?

I see that Event FX such as Brightness & Contrast do allow for changes affecting the black level but this method seems to a somewhat awkward.

Is there a tool ready-made for this task?

    Thanks,
    mwm

I’d use Brightness and Contrast. Use the Waveform Monitor scope to set uniform levels (0 IRE for home video, 7.5 IRE for material destined for broadcast or cable, assuming you’re in the USA).
