  video filters affecting audio

  Is it possible that video filters have affected the speed of my video and have therefore made the video and audio tracks go at different speeds? I was working on the video portion of some tape the other day (I was adding video filters while the video was playing rather than while it was stopped) and when I went to play it back it looked like a badly dubbed film with the voice not matching the video of the person speaking. I went back to look at the original clips that were brought in and they were in synch.

  Is there a way to fix this? And, probably more important, is there something I should be doing to make sure this doesn’t happen again?

  Adding video filters will reduce the “real time playback” rate because your CPU can no longer keep up. Things that can help:

  1) Use a lower preview setting
  2) Get a faster CPU
  3) RAM Render/Pre-render/render to a new track
  4) Turn off the video effects
  5) Just trust all will be well on the final render
