I was wondering if vegas has any razor blade type tool
    similar to what FCP has?
Also is there anyway to save custom window layouts… personally
I find the vegas layout awkward and not very space efficient…

You don’t need a razor blade – would just take more time to switch tools. Instead, put the cursor where you want to “razor” and press “S” (for “Split”).

But when you use the “S” key, be sure to highlight the clip you want to splice. If you don’t, all tracks that the playhead is on will be spliced.

Technically, all SELECTED events will be split UNLESS there are NO events selected and then ALL events will be split. This also means that if there is an event selected but it is NOT under the cursor, then NO event will be split (and you’ll wonder what’s going on).

BTW, and easy way to select an event under the cursor WITHOUT moving the cursor is to hold down the CTRL key and then click on that event.
