  Time Compression With Sony Vegas MS 6

  Hello.

  Let me preface this by saying I’m brand new to Vegas and video editing, so forgive me in advance for seeming dim. Anyway…

  I was just starting to work on a project with Vegas Movie Studio 6 and I needed to compress a 90 minute clip to about 3 minutes. When I tried to compress the clip by CTRL dragging it from the end, it only compressed to 20 minutes and would not let me comress it any further. I would like to compress the clip in it’s entirety (it’s two people decorating a Christmas tree from start to finish), and am having a hard time figuring out how to proceed. Someone mentioned “velocity envelopes”, but my understanding is that they’re only available in the full version of Vegas. Any suggestions would be welcome.

  Render that. Add the rendered file back to the timeline. Now compress that new file again. Repeat as necessary.
